This Nike ad that was played during the 2012 London Olympics has gotten mixed reviews. A 200 lbs, 12 year old boy, slowly jogs down an open road.
Some critics found this ad exploitative.
Now why? Because he’s a 200 lbs, 12 year-old kid?
This ad is more inspiring than it is exploitative. It will motivate kids to get off the couch, get out, and move. It will resonate to normal people, as they will be able to see themselves in the jogger. Nike is wise not to use athletes.
